What I’m Reading
On my bedside table (and on my iPad) this month are the following fabulous books:
You might have seen this in a recent blog post, but didn’t want you to miss it! What can I say about Danielle LaPorte. She is a soulful, badass and inspiring writer and all round cool person. I stumbled across her website and was drawn in by her blogs and her voice. I then came across her new book, The Firestarter Sessions, which I instantly pre-ordered on Amazon. I had to wait to start reading it as I was in the final stages of my first draft for my upcoming book Getting Real About Having It All (small plug, check out the My Book page
. But the second I had the book in with the publisher I started reading, and listening too actually as I bought the Audible version also and love to listen on my walks. The book is a soulful but practical guide to creating success. If you are an entrepenuer, or anyone looking to create success in business and life, then check this out. It’s a gift to the world.
I recently ordered 18 Minutes by Peter Bregman. It is a very cool book on how to be more effective, and getting more satisfaction from our work and life. Peter is a blogger for Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and Forbes magazines, and is the CEO of Bregman Partners, working with senior execs in Fortune 500 companies, non-profits and start ups. The book is easy to read, humorous and highly practical.
My cousin Paige recommended this book to me, as we were discussing my writing process, and she thought this could help me uncover some creativity. Boy was she right. Twyla Tharp is one of the leading choreographers of her generation, and in this book, she not only shares her personal creative secrets, but she shows how to unlock your own creativity through a series of thought provoking exercises, and excerpts from the creative greats like Mozart. Truly fascinating. Check it out here.
What I’m Listening Too
This Year I Will…M.J.Ryan – Ok so this is a book (!). I have it on my iPad, but I am listening to it this month on my walk’s as I am deep in writing the change process and habit creation sections for my book. This is one of the best books I have seen on making sense of how to create positive change in your life, create positive habits, and build the love you life, one change at a time. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to make a change and follow it through.
Adele – Oh my, what can I say about this woman? I remember listening to her for the first time whilst I was walking along the beach, and I was totally blown away. She has the most soulful voice and her lyrics just slay me. If you have yet to check her out, get to it! But be warned, emotion stirring doesn’t begin to cover it. Amazing. Check her out here.
