Health and Wellbeing

Crazy Sexy Diet - Kris Carr. I just love this book. I picked it up in New York, hard cover and all, and dove straight into the beautiful, cool and crazy colour pages. It is filled with inspirational stories, images and ideas for how you can get healthy and happy through what you eat, drink and how you live.

It’s official, I have a new girl crush – Kimberly Snyder!  I am officially in love with her :-) She is a nutritionist to the stars, and has written this amazing book that covers just about everything you could ever want to know about living well through eating clean, green and fabulous. Check it all out here.

Being Your Best

The Power of Full Engagement - I could wax lyrical about this book for hours and hours (and I have believe me). The key concept in this book is that time is not the most important factor for performance, energy is. If you are looking for a book that shines the light on how to perform at your absolute best, then this is the book for you. Jim and Tony are experts in performance management, and created the Corporate Athlete system for peak performance. If you want to be well, and live your best most productive life, you can’t afford not to read this book.

Creativity

My cousin Paige recommended this book to me, as we were discussing my writing process, and she thought this could help me uncover some creativity. Boy was she right. Twyla Tharp is one of the leading choreographers of her generation, and in this book, she not only shares her personal creative secrets, but she shows how to unlock your own creativity through a series of thought provoking exercises, and excerpts from the creative greats like Mozart. Truly fascinating. Check it out here.

Wellbeing

Wellbeing by Tom Rath- Wellbeing: The Five Essential Elements will provide you with a holistic view of what contributes to your wellbeing over a lifetime. This book is filled with fascinating research and novel ideas for boosting your wellbeing in each of the five essential elements of wellbeing: Career Wellbeing, Social Wellbeing, Financial Wellbeing, Physical Wellbeing, and Community Wellbeing.

Positive Change

Change Anything - In their new book, Change Anything, the New York Times bestselling authors of Crucial Conversations and Influencer, show us that we have a lot less control over our behavior than we think we do. However, we can affect the influences that govern our behavior and that puts the power to change back in our control. With a clearer understanding of the science behind personal change, we can become ten times more successful at changing anything.

This Year I Will…M.J.Ryan - This is one of the best books I have seen on making sense of how to create positive change in your life, create positive habits, and build the love you life, one change at a time. It pulls from science – positive psychology, neuroscience, behavioural science and performance management – but puts it all in an easy to read, easy to implement format that is engaging, compelling and motivating. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to make a change and follow it through.

Positive Psychology

The Happiness Advantage – Shawn Achor - This is the best summary of the positive psychology impact that is taking place in the workplace all around the world. Shawn, a lecturer in the infamous Harvard course in Pos Psych, references his comprehensive studies in organisations around the world, and demonstrates how and why happiness matters. If you are interested in happiness in the workplace, and making your business and people more effective, then you will get value from this book.

Soul Inspiration

You might have seen this in a recent blog post, but didn’t want you to miss it! What can I say about Danielle LaPorte. She is a soulful, badass and inspiring writer and all round cool person. I stumbled across her website and was drawn in by her blogs and her voice. I then came across her new book, The Firestarter Sessions, which I instantly pre-ordered on Amazon. I had to wait to start reading it as I was in the final stages of my first draft for my upcoming book Getting Real About Having It All (small plug, check out the My Book page :-) . But the second I had the book in with the publisher I started reading, and listening too actually as I bought the Audible version also and love to listen on my walks. The book is a soulful but practical guide to creating success. If you are an entrepenuer, or anyone looking to create success in business and life, then check this out. It’s a gift to the world.

Productivity

I recently ordered 18 Minutes by Peter Bregman. It is a very cool book on how to be more effective, and getting more satisfaction from our work and life. Peter is a blogger for Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and Forbes magazines, and is the CEO of Bregman Partners, working with senior execs in Fortune 500 companies, non-profits and start ups. The book is easy to read, humorous and highly practical.

What I’m Listening Too

Adele - Oh my, what can I say about this woman? I remember listening to her for the first time whilst I was walking along the beach, and I was totally blown away. She has the most soulful voice and her lyrics just slay me. If you have yet to check her out, get to it! But be warned, emotion stirring doesn’t begin to cover it. Amazing. Check her out here.
