WLW 019 Lee Holmes on Fasting Your Way to Wellness

After the super helpful and inspiring interview that I had with Lee Holmes back in August last year, I wanted to get Lee back on the show to share more of her beautiful wisdom and guidance and talk to us about her latest book, Fast Your Way to Wellness.

Lee Holmes is a holistic nutritionist, yoga teacher, wholefoods chef, Lifestyle Food Channel’s Healthy Eating Expert and author of the best selling books Supercharged Food: Eat Your Way to Health, Supercharged Food: Eat Yourself Beautiful, Eat Clean, Green and Vegetarian, Heal your Gut, Eat Right for Your Shape, Supercharged Food for Kids and Fast Your Way to Wellness. Lee also runs a four-week online ‘Heal Your Gut’ program. She is a columnist with Wellbeing and her articles have appeared in leading Australian newspapers and journals, as well as The Times and The Telegraph, The Daily Express in the UK and The Huffington Post in the US.

In this conversation, we go deep into the topic of fasting and Lee gives us all of the ins and outs on the different types of fasting and the health benefits we see from this approach to eating.

Here are 3 key takeaways from my conversation with Lee:

  1. Why fasting is great for your digestive system, for healing your gut and the method Lee recommends if you’re just getting started and want to experiment with fasting
  2. The simple ingredient swaps that Lee uses to deal with any cravings that come up when you’re fasting
  3. The beautiful link between fasting and spirituality and how Lee thinks about fasting as a way of creating space

And if you missed the first conversation that I recorded with Lee and you want to learn more from this incredible woman, then head over to the first episode on Using Food As Medicine
