WLW 005: Margie Warrell on Living Bravely
Last week I wrote about the need to change the conversation for women, work and leadership if we are truly to get to equality. This week I want to continue taking that conversation in a direction that inspires new solutions, positive outcomes and revolutionary change. I couldn’t think of a better person to have this conversation with than Margie Warrell.
Margie is a thought leader in human potential and passionate about helping people live and lead more bravely. She is the best-selling author of 3 books; Find Your Courage, Stop Playing Safe and her latest book, Brave. Margie grew up the eldest of 7 children on a dairy farm in rural Australia where she learnt a lot about courage and overcoming adversity. Today she draws on her background in business, psychology and coaching to deliver leadership, communication and courage-building programs to organizations worldwide. A mother of 4 noisy children and avid adventure traveller, she is also a Forbes Columnist, founder of RawCourage TV and a regular media contributor.
Margie and I are both passionate about creating a world in which more women feel empowered and more women are in power. A world in which women recognize their immeasurable worth and have the courage to step up in their work and in their lives. And it starts with redefining what we mean by power. It’s time to move past old paradigms that equate power with status and money and really get clear on what it means to us, what success means to us, and how we can show up in our personal power. Margie and I have a lot to say on this topic and I can’t wait for you to listen in and hear Margie’s personal definition of power.
We also take a close look at the fears that are holding us back, how comparison is robbing us of our joy and the practical ways we can build the courage to go after what we really want in our lives.
Here are 3 key takeaways from my conversation with Margie:
- The simple 4-step process you can use to leverage your fear, build your courage muscle and grow your risk tolerance.
- Why finding your purpose is key to making an impact in the world and moving past old gender stereotypes.
- Why we need to stop focusing on how hard it is for women to work and the constant daily juggle and start talking about creating more opportunities for women to contribute to the bigger decisions.
I hope this conversation inspires you to live bravely and own your personal power because the more empowered women we have in the world, the better off the world will be.
