WLW 007: Nicola Newman on Igniting your Creativity
If you’ve lost touch with your creativity, or if you’re one of the many people who believe that they’re just not creative then this episode with Nicola Newman is for you. Nicola and I chat about all things creativity and share with you why we both believe that every single one of us is creative.
Nicola is an artist, author, speaker, entrepreneur, business developer, gardening teacher and creativity advocate. She has created 2 successful online gardening courses, had 14 solo exhibitions of original paintings, videos and drawings, co-produced 3 documentaries, created a dozen organic gardens and written, designed and illustrated 2 ebooks. Talk about a creative woman! And just a heads up that this episode features some adult language, so you may want to make sure there are no little ones listening in.
Here are 3 key takeaways from my conversation with Nicola:
- Every single person on the planet is creative. We need to broaden our definition of creativity. Creativity is really about taking elements that already exist and putting them together in a way that is new.
- Nicola’s unique take on resistance and why she believes listening to your body and balancing your inner driver mentality with that softer voice inside is key to moving elegantly through resistance
- It’s important to create space to play and express yourself. It’s about giving yourself permission to create.
I hope you enjoy this episode and that it inspires you to follow your curiosity and get back in touch with your creativity. We are all creative beings and honouring this creativity that lies within is one of the most fulfilling things that you can do.
